Rev. Daniel M. Provost

Rev. Daniel M. Provost was born near Marquette, Michigan, in the great Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in March of 1978. After being confirmed in the ELCA church in 1992, he and his mother went through adult instruction and became members of the LCMS in 1994. His father was a very active member of the Roman Catholic church his entire life.

Pastor Provost graduated with his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1999 from Alma College in Alma, Michigan. Alma is an excellent liberal arts college, with a Presbyterian heritage, in the center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. His major was history, and his minor was political science. He then began studies at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, graduating in May of 2004.

Rev. Provost served in the Minnesota-South District of the LCMS (Holy Cross-Austin, Peace-Claremont and Immanuel-Lakefield) for 14 years (2004-2018). He then accepted a call to Our Savior-Newton, Iowa, on the Western edge of the Iowa-East District, in 2018, where he remained for about 5 years. In 2023, he answered a call to serve a dual parish in Drayton and Grafton, North Dakota. When Trinity-Drayton announced in January 2025 that they would be closing their doors at the end of 2025, the saints of Zion English-Grafton attempted to find a partner church to work with in ministry. However, the Lord of the Church had other plans, and the tri-parish of Grace- Lakota, St. Andrew-Niagara and St. Peter-Devils Lake issued a call to Pastor Provost in December 2025.

Pastor Provost has been married to his wife, Nicole R. Provost, since 1998. They met in college at Alma College (she was his Calculus tutor!). Nicole graduated in 1998, with her ACS Certified Bachelor of Science Degree, with a major in chemistry. She has worked as a chemist, laboratory technician, and quality manager throughout her career (she has a very interesting resume, necessitated by following Pastor Provost around the Midwest!).

The Provosts have a daughter, Julia Katherine, who will graduate from Wittenberg Academy, an online Lutheran Classical High School, in 2026. She is planning to attend Concordia University-Nebraska, beginning in the fall of 2026, with the goal of becoming a Lutheran Teacher. They currently all reside in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
